Research Seminar of Prof. Shizhang Qiao from University of Adelaide

Lecture Time: 09:30 on 8th April, 2016

Lecture Room: C501 of National Sicence Park

Lecture Title: Application of electric catalyst in energy conversion process

Prof. Shizhang Qiao

Dr Qiao joined the School of Chemical Engineering of the University of Adelaide in February 2012 as a professor (the inaugural Chair of Nanotechnology). His research expertise is in nanomaterials and nanoporous materials for catalysis, drug/gene/ RNA delivery and new energy technologies. He has co-authored more than 160 papers in refereed journals, including Nature, Angew Chem Int Ed, J. Am. Chem. Soc, Advanced Materials with him as a corresponding or joint corresponding author (over 5800 citation times, h-index: 40). He has filed three patents on novel nanomaterials. These materials are very promising for bioseparation, drug/gene delivery, fuel cells, photocatalysis and lithium ion batteries etc. He has attracted more than 5.0 million dollars in research grants from industrial partners, the ARC, National Natural Science Foundation of China, and The University of Queensland.

In recognition of his achievements in research, he was honoured with a prestigious UQ Foundation Research Excellence Award (2008) and 2013 Emerging Researcher Award (The American Chemical Society, Division of Energy and Fuels). He has also been awarded an inaugural UQ Mid-Career Research Fellowship, a prestigious ARC ARF Fellowship (relinquished) and an ARC APD Fellowship. He is currently an Honorary Professor at The University of Queensland and an Associate Editor of Journal of Materials Chemistry A.
